Thanks for making the 2017 UWI Toronto Benefit Gala a success. The Gala was held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Toronto, Canada.

The Gala celebrates the contributions of leaders of Caribbean heritage and social change agents while raising much needed funds for well deserving UWI students across the Caribbean.

Each year you generously give your me and money so that students thousands of miles away, in the Caribbean, can have hope that their dream of a good education will be realized

A Successful 2016 UWI Toronto Benefit Gala

The seventh annual Toronto Benefit Gala for the University of the West Indies (UWI), held recently at the Ritz-Carlton in Toronto, Canada, was a rousing success. More than 400 guests attended and it concluded with a post-gala Scotiabank VIP Jazz Lounge reception. The gala was hosted by patrons Donette Chin-Loy Chang, Brigette Chang-Addorisio and Andrew Chang.

For 7 years the UWI Toronto Benefit Gala has successfully awarded over 260 scholarships and raised over 1 million dollars to support students across the Caribbean who need a ‘hand up’ in reaching their higher education goals.

In the past I was very fortunate to have received assistance from you towards my tuition payment at a time when I was flat on my face and having been faced with a threat of de-registration at the UWI. Your scholarship assistance contributed to me being

able to complete my law degree studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona.

The annual University of the West Indies (UWI) Toronto benefit affair, the largest fund-raiser for UWI in Canada, raised JA $45 million this year which will be used to provide scholarships to students at the university.
